Core rule: section 11(4) treats remaining stock, including capital goods on which input credit was previously obtained, as supplied at market value when registration is cancelled. Book value is not automatically the prescribed taxable value.
Example: eligible remaining stock has market value NPR 200,000 excluding VAT. Assuming prior input credit and an ordinary taxable deemed supply at 13%, VAT is NPR 26,000. A low accounting carrying value does not by itself eliminate this charge.
Prepare a physical inventory, asset list, market-value support and input-credit history. Reconcile the final return, tax payable and any claim before treating the matter as closed.
A deregistration application does not by itself establish immediate cancellation. Follow the statutory documents, review process and applicable filing rules. Income-tax registration, corporate closure and local-business licences are separate matters.
